Noblesville, Pacers Sports & Entertainment and NBA Officials Break Ground on Event Center at Innovation Mile

NOBLESVILLE, IN – Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen was joined by NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum and Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO Rick Fuson to officially break ground on the Noblesville Events Center and future home of the Pacers G League franchise at Innovation Mile. The 3,400-seat, 120,000 sq. ft. arena will be the home to the second most prominent men’s basketball league in the world. The venue will also host community events, conferences, entertainment, and other sporting events. The Noblesville Event Center is the second groundbreaking at Noblesville’s business and technology hub, Innovation Mile.

“The City of Noblesville is proud to partner with Pacers Sports & Entertainment and we’re grateful they chose our city to be the future home of their G League franchise. The Noblesville Event Center is a great economic development driver at Innovation Mile and will align with our vision to bring the opportunities of the future to Noblesville,” said Mayor Jensen. “This venue will serve as a popular destination and key focal point for our community and will host community events, conferences, entertainment, and other sporting events. This venue will put Noblesville on the map worldwide and we look forward to welcoming the team to Noblesville.”

The new arena is anticipated to open during the 2025-2026 season, and the G League team will play at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in the interim.

“We wanted to make sure that if we moved, we moved to the right community. Noblesville is one of the fastest growing, one of the most well-run municipalities in our state and we are so happy that we are going to be here,” said Fuson. “We look forward to coming from all over Indianapolis. We’re hopeful that you’ll be great fans of our players. There may be some that play here on Tuesday and maybe they’ll be playing downtown on Thursday. Over 50 percent of the players in the NBA have G League experience so this is big time basketball.”

The NBA G League is the NBA’s official minor league, preparing players, coaches, officials, trainers, and front-office staff for the NBA while acting as the league’s research and development laboratory. Featuring 31 teams — 29 with one-to-one affiliations with NBA franchises — the league offers elite professional basketball at an affordable price in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. NBA G League Ignite also plays against G League competition.

“We’re thrilled that the league is able to participate in this momentous and historic occasion today. I’ve been at the NBA for 24 years and this groundbreaking today is unique for us. The G League is a global property and we continue to see it grow. We have teams across all three countries of North America and our games are broadcast all around the world. When we open this arena, Noblesville will be known all over the world to G League and NBA fans,” said Tatum. “The other thing we have in common is about innovation. To be here in the footprint of Innovation Mile and the home of entrepreneurial companies that are looking to innovate and do things differently couldn’t be more consistent with what we’re trying to do with the G League and have been doing for many, many years.”

Innovation Mile encompasses close to 600 acres and fronts Interstate 69. It is a work, live, play, engage, and learn campus designed to drive sustainable economic growth in Noblesville. In September, Innovation Mile broke ground on the Indiana Joint Replacement Institute, a $28 million, 40,000 sq. ft. surgery center facility and medical office building dedicated to hip and knee replacements.

“Innovation Mile will become a dynamic business and technology hub that will serve as an anchor for revolutionary thinking and a gateway for innovation, leveraging and catalyzing long-term growth opportunities and reinvestment in the City of Noblesville,” said Jensen. “We have great partners in BorgWarner, Indiana Joint Replacement Institute, and Pacers Sports & Entertainment, and I look forward to bringing more companies to our city as this campus will be at the forefront of our city’s future.”

“We are truly a place of growth and development. I think it’s fitting we are here on Innovation Mile for what our league stands for,” said NBA G League President Shareef Abdur-Rahim. “Most importantly, the G League stands for community. You’ll be able to come together as a community, have fun and families will enjoy themselves. We are excited about this opportunity in Noblesville. This is also an opportunity to be a model for the G League. I’m going to tell others about this, about what is going on in Noblesville and hopefully we can duplicate this in other communities throughout our league.”

Noblesville Economic Development Department continues to bring industries to Noblesville in life science innovation, health technology, advanced manufacturing, wholesale trade, and professional, technical & financial services to meet the demand for a highly skilled workforce.
